At Flex-Ability Concepts, it’s a family affair with a family of products. From curved walls, ceilings, soffits, arches and acoustical clouds to tall and straight walls that require bridging, we have the right product suited for almost every job. Check out our family of products at www.flexabilityconcepts.com.

Sometimes, everyone needs a reminder about each family member and what their role is. For track products, there are three main Flex-Ability Concepts options:

  1. Flex-C Trac, made of galvanized steel, is available in 20, 18 and 16 gauges and a variety of widths. It can be curved to virtually any radius. Flex-C Trac can be used for curved walls, columns, arches, S curves, domes and barrel vaults. To create the right curve, you just need to draw the needed radius on a hard surface, such as concrete. Then the track is laid down and curved by hand into position. The Hammer-Lock tabs are then hammered into place to secure the shape (self-tapping screws can go into the sides for added strength). Next the track just needs to be fastened to the ceiling or floor.

  2. Flex-C Angle is just like Flex-C Trac except, having only one leg, it easily lets metal framing lay flat over the product. It’s ideal for furr downs or other installs where the second leg of the track would interfere with the perpendicular framing components. Flex-C Angle is available in 16 and 20 gauges.

  3. Flex-C Arch is manufactured of 20-gauge galvanized steel. Commercial widths are 2 ½”, 3 ⅝”, 4″, 6″ and 8″. The length is 8′, and the minimum radius is 9″. Flex-C Arch, the ideal product to create arches in doorways or windows, is extremely well-suited for making curved soffits and architectural clouds. It too locks into shape with Hammer-Lock tabs or by inserting screws, and it attaches to metal or wood studs.

We have another family members to talk about when it comes to tracks, Flex Lite. A light duty alternative to Flex-C Trac is Flex Lite. Manufactured in an economical fashion, Flex Lite has been designed for curved framing applications where lateral loads are not an issue and where the higher quality of Flex-C Trac is not needed. Flex Lite is available in 25-gauge steel.

Bringing up the rear is the newest offering, a new bridge bar called Snap Lock. Buckling of axially loaded studs can be prevented with the right bridging method. Snap Lock was invented to be that method. The product is a 16- or 24-inch bridging bar that snaps together within the knockout of the stud to provide exceptional torsional stud restraint. The bridging bar has a starter clip that can be used in the first stud of a run. A screw at the beginning and at the end of a run are the only screws needed no matter the length of the run. Other bridging products require clips and screws at every stud. If a different length is needed, maybe at the beginning or end of a run, the bridging bar flanges can be snipped. Then the product can be folded over and screwed into place using the small pre-punched holes. Larger holes are also provided in Snap Lock to allow for other products, such as conduit, to easily pass through.
